Are you on the lookout for the best cutting knife on the market? How does the Flexcut KN12 sound? If you are a hobbyist woodcarver, or perhaps you are a professional woodcarver, you will still need the best tools possible. As a hobby, it is quite satisfying and fulfilling.

Cutting away at a block of wood and ending up with a distinct predetermined shape is something that has continued to propel this art of wood carving. Cutting wood requires a certain caliber of tools.

Flexcut KN12

The knife that you use has to be sharp and effective in the task at hand. It needs to have features like having a flexible blade, being versatile, and also easy to handle.

The KN12 Cutting knife is a general cutting knife and you will find it very handy to take with you and carve several different projects. Sometimes all you want to do is use one knife to complete what you are doing.

A handy general compact knife means that you can use it on the go. This knife has a sturdy construction, meaning that you can trust it to cut through just about any wood. A general cutting knife should be able to withstand this pressure, and the Flexcut KN12 has that capacity.

The blade is durable and so is the handle. It is a well put together knife that you will not regret buying. Let us take a look at all that you will be getting with the KN12 cutting knife.

The Flexcut KN12 is a basic-looking knife, with a blade that is shorter than the handle. The handle has an ergonomic handle and has a hook-like shape, which is a specific shape made to make handling the knife easier and more comfortable.

Whilst the shape is cool to look at it is also functional. The handle is made of ashwood, which comes from the ash tree. It is known for its durability and strength. This is a very welcome feature in a knife that will be used for general cutting.

You do not need to be carrying around an entire tool kit just for general work. This one will do it all for you. As is the nature with ashwood, the straight grain is visible and it makes for an aesthetically pleasing look.

You will find that a lot of modern furniture has a look resembling this. It is a light hue of brown and gives off a clean look, which is very appealing.

The blade is very sharp, and it looks the part. It has a more rounded edge, at the tip of the blade. You will not need to worry about inadvertently stabbing yourself when you are using this knife.

It features edge-holding steel, just like you would find on other flex cut blades. The carbon steel blade itself is a dark color.

Performance Review

As a general cutting knife, it is important that it is very durable and can take the heat. The good thing about the way that flex cut makes its knives, is that the handle is made of the strong wood. Ashwood is notoriously durable.

The ergonomic shape of the handle also makes it comfortable to hold and also helps get rid of hand fatigue as you work. Regardless of how hard the wood that you are going to be cutting is, the strength of this tool is outstanding.

The blade comes already sharpened right out of the packet and is very sharp. It easily slices through the toughest wood, because it is made of high carbon steel. Durable steel and something that you can rely on.

Whilst it may not be the best knife for detailing, the KN12 will do a great job of general cutting. To get the best performance from it, make sure that you have a comfortable grip on both the wood and the knife.

It comes already sharpened right out of the box. Because of this, you must be very careful when you take the knife out of the packet. Even after you use it for a while it maintains its sharpness. When it does go blunt, you can sharpen it.

The sharp blade needs to be kept safely out of the reach of children. This means that you need to take special care to put it away after you have used it.

Also, make sure to hold the knife in a comfortable position and away from your fingers. Some people prefer to use their thumb to pivot the wood and get the necessary grip.

Who is this product ideal for?

This is an easy knife to use and can be used by beginners. It is not a technical knife. However, you will need a couple of lessons on how to keep yourself safe and also how to get the best out of it.

The project that you start with may not be the absolute best, but this is something that you will improve with time and practice and a good knife like the KN12.
